| CLASS | Aristocratic Spirit-Conqueror |
|---|---|
| DOMAIN | An antique mirror |
| DANGER | High |
| MAIN THEME | Beauty, cruelty, and reflected possession |
During her lifetime, the lady tormented many people and refused to leave after her execution. Her severed head did not end her power: her malice clung to the mirror and turned it into a new torture chamber.
Origin and Manifestations
She chooses young women who linger on their reflection. The victim sees her own beauty, gradually blending with the face of the mirror’s mistress. Agnet drew a staircase for the spirit into the material world, entered into a dangerous alliance with it, and hung the mirror until the appointed hour.
Erotic Nature
The lady desires not the body, but the right to wear another’s face and dispose of another’s beauty. Her caress always contains humiliation: the reflection convinces the victim that she will become more beautiful if she allows another’s will to control her every movement.
Countermeasures and Cost
The mirror must not be broken near a manifested spirit: the shards create many small escape routes. The surface must be covered, the lady’s line of sight must be broken, and the painted ladder must be removed. To reclaim the captured identity, one must utter one’s own name outside the reflection.
