The Laughing Man appears last, when other creatures have already led the traveler to the edge of hope. He is not the guardian of the exit, but proof that the exit has noticed you.
Origin and Manifestations
The creature cannot tolerate the light of the hut and approaches after the other inhabitants. It rarely speeds up, but the road itself brings the runner back to it. The smile remains visible even when the body dissolves into the fog.
Erotic Nature
Its seduction lies in surrendering to the inevitable. It does not promise pleasure directly; it promises an end to the flight, after which there will be no need to choose or resist. In this world, exhaustion is easily mistaken for consent.
Countermeasures and Cost
He can only be neutralized by the latter, using the light of home and a properly laid-out path. Even disappearance does not guarantee freedom if other entities remain. Never return his smile, and never acknowledge him as the only being nearby.
