The Antiquarian invites the traveler to search for items he himself has forgotten, and then turns the fortress into a prison until the agreement is fulfilled.
Origin and Manifestations
His paintings are gateways to separate worlds. He calls this a quest for knowledge, but treats the guest as a tool for restoring his own memory and body. The more pieces are returned, the more complete—and dangerous—the host becomes.
Erotic Nature
The Antiquarian’s eroticism is that of a collector. He wants to possess not only the object but also the experience of the one who acquired it. Each scene becomes proof that another’s body can be sent to a place he himself does not wish to go.
Countermeasures and Cost
He can be deceived with mirror images, poisoned with a mushroom, or handed over to the Custodi after transformation. The purest victory is to deprive him of the original: a reflection without a source disintegrates. Never hand over all the pieces before a way out has been found.
